While still operating his successful 30-year excursion steamboat company, Trey and Tim’s grandfather, B.B. Wills, and his Uncle, J. Eugene Wills, formed a partnership with Albert Van Metre in the mid-1950ʹs. By 1960, the real estate development firm of Wills and Van Metre had become a major force in home building throughout the Washington, DC suburbs.
A short time later, Trey and Tim’s father, P. Reed Wills II (“Reed”), started his own real estate firm and would later co-found NV Homes which eventually took over Ryan Homes and was renamed NVR. Reed went on to develop more than ten thousand residential lots and constructed several million square feet of residential, office and industrial properties.
After college, Tim and Trey began their careers in real estate working with their father. Shortly thereafter, Tim and Trey formed their own company, Potomac Land Management, which would later be renamed Wills Companies.
In 1992, Tim and Trey Wills formed the current iteration of Wills Companies, a multi-faceted real estate development firm, based in the Washington D.C. area. The Wills Companies Team has executed more than $1 billion in real estate transactions. They are adept at taking a project from entitlement through stabilization, delivering value-added acquisitions in all asset classes.
Wills Companies has extensive experience in the development of single-family, multi-family, student housing, retail, office, commercial, historical, educational, mixed-use, as well as the purchase, improvement, and sale of raw land. We coordinate and execute all aspects of the process including market and feasibility analysis, financing, contract negotiations, construction planning and management, asset management, leasing, and property management. We are a third-generation real estate developer who has the intuition backed by expertise to target opportunities that preserve and expand financial returns for our investors.
